A historic spot in Rotorua's history as a destination renowned for it's thermal pools and healing waters. While the main bath is now a popular venue for events and weddings, the bathhouse is open to the public daily. Note that the water here is fresh water, which is geothermally heated to a pleasant 30°C – 42°C. The Blue Baths are currently closed to the public. Please look at the official website for updates

A hidden gem, loved by those who know it, Kerosene Creek is a free thermal pool experience wrapped in the native forest of Whakarewarewa. A bit further away, and a bit harder to get to, the naturally heated stream makes it worth the trip. If you do visit, take lots of pictures at the waterfall!

Another 'not so secret' secret location is the Waiotapu Stream. Located near the Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal park, you'll find the stream just off Waiotapu Road (there's a little dirt road where you'll find a bridge). We stay in this Holiday Park for a week. The facilities were clean, the kitchen was little bit to small, but this depence on the time. The staff were realy friendly and the TV room was perfect to hang out. Wifi was also no problem and enough!
We were in Rotorua for the Whaka100 & wanted to stay somewhere that would be 'mountain biker friendly'. We booked the self-contained family unit which was perfect for what we wanted. The unit was tidy & well laid out. The beds were comfy & the bathroom was adequate. The staff were friendly & helpful. Whilst the location wasn't close to town it suited us fine as we had a rental vehicle or just bikes into town along the cycle path. We would definitely stay again! Great value for $$. Stayed October 2016, travelled as a couple
Loved our stay will definitely be returning in the near future. Very friendly staff clean and well maintained units only a couple of minutes drive from Rotorua City Centre. Very family friendly. 10 stars
